Roddy Ricch Returns with New Single ‘Late at Night’

Roddy Ricch makes his return.

After teasing the song last month, the Grammy-winning rapper drops his latest single “Late at Night.” Over the sultry Mustard-produced instrumental, Roddy serenades his lady.

“Late at night, kiss me in the morning, late at night,” he sings.

Roddy brings his vision to life in the cinematic video, partly inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” In the X-directed clip, he rides a Ferris wheel before transporting to an ’80s party where guests are dressed as Salt-N-Pepa, Run-DMC, and Kiss. At the party, he meets his love interest, played by Karrueche Tran, before turning into a werewolf and chasing her down the street. But was it all a dream?

Roddy is now readying his next project, which could be Feed Tha Streets 3, the third installment in his acclaimed mixtape series which began in 2017.

“It’s from a different place,” he told Nick Cannon of his new music. “A lot done changed in life so I just felt like giving my fans just a transparent new set of life, more so where I’m at.”

In an interview with Complex, he added, “I want to bridge the gap between my old fans and my new fans. That’s what I’m on a mission to do with this next situation that I’m working on.”

This marks the second solo release from Roddy this year. Following the Grammys in March, he dropped “Heartless (Live From L.A.).”

Are Diddy and Yung Miami hip-hop’s newest couple?

The rap mogul, 51, and City Girl, 27, are sparking dating rumors after they were spotted showing PDA at a birthday party for Quality Control CEO Pierre “Pee” Thomas in Atlanta on Wednesday (June 2). Taking to Instagram, Yung Miami aka Caresha Brownlee shared a photo of her and Diddy holding hands while walking down a staircase in formalwear.

“It’s a whole lot of money in this mf!” she captioned the IG slideshow.

Yung Miami’s followers were surprised to see their intimate exchange and questioned if the two, who are over 20 years apart, were dating. “Hold on why y’all holding hands,” asked one fan, while Diddy’s son Justin Combs commented with flame emojis.

Puff is seemingly single, while Caresha has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with producer Southside. The two welcomed their daughter, Summer Miami, in October 2019.

Neither has commented on the romance rumors. Diddy recently raised eyebrows when he posted a throwback photo of him with his ex Jennifer Lopez amid her reunion with Ben Affleck.

Pee’s black-tie birthday bash was a star-studded affair. Yung Miami’s fellow City Girl JT was also in attendance, along with Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, Gucci Mane, Lil Durk, Jack Harlow, and Teyana Taylor.

Drake and Canopy Growth End Cannabis Partnership

Drake

More Life Growth is no more.

More than a year after announcing its multi-million dollar partnership with Drake, Canadian cannabis producer Canopy Growth Corp. has ended the relationship.

According to Bloomberg, Canopy terminated the joint venture with Drake’s More Life Growth Co. in March. More Life had initially planned to sell cannabis-related products in the Canadian and global markets.

“We have indeed divested from More Life and the facility in Scarborough which had been intended to be part of that agreement is now Canopy Growth’s R&D facility, where we will work on plant science and science development projects,” said Jennifer White, director of communications at Canopy Growth.

Drake launched his cannabis wellness company in November 2019, billing it as a fully-licensed producer of cannabis based out of his hometown of Toronto. Drake held 60% ownership in More Life, while Canopy Growth retained a 40% stake.

“The opportunity to partner with a world-class company like Canopy Growth on a global scale is really exciting,” Drake said when the deal was announced. “The idea of being able to build something special in an industry that is ever growing has been inspiring. More Life and More Blessing.”

In regulatory filings, Canopy said it incurred an $8.6 million “impairment charge” as a result of the venture in the fiscal fourth quarter. Canopy will no longer be obligated to pay royalties to More Life, amounting to around $27.7 million.

Liza walks us through the highs and lows of relationships on ‘DONE IS DONE’

Roll down your windows, slide those shades on, and get ready for a slow winding summer ride. Filled with beautifully painted sunsets, unexpected turns, and dark nights, singer-songwriter Liza’s new EP, DONE IS DONE, takes us on an emotive sonical journey of love and life. With buttery smooth vocals and jazzy R&B melodies, Liza drives us through the inception—and the inevitable ending—of a modern relationship.

With the rising of the sun, things start off on a bright note on “JULIANNE PORTER”. Liza’s petal-soft, almost sedative, melodies draw us in. A radiant escapade lies ahead and we have a front row view. On”‘ROLLA”, she captures the butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling of being enamoured in the presence of someone special. With uncertainty looming, Liza takes a risk, inviting a potential lover for a ride. Hair blowing in the wind, she’s hopeful and optimistic. Heavenly soprano notes bounce from the aux to our ears, and we can’t help but get in our feels.

An interlude marks the start of a bumpy road. “LANSDOWNE”, named after an artsy street in Liza’s hometown, Toronto, has a more somber feel. She wonders if she made the wrong choice in letting her guard down. These shadows cast into “MEMORIZE FEELINGS”. She tries to shake off her insecurities, but ends up tallying her concerns, taking note of every feeling, both the good and bad.

Being vulnerable with her heart proves to be a mistake. While she was driving, her lover got sidetracked. On “DONE IS DONE”, they’ve reached a dead end and communication is out the window. Being taken for granted is not a bridge Liza will cross, so the two decide to part. With grainy background noise and unhewn guitar chords, she captures the raw essence of love stories: things aren’t always so picture perfect. Her deep contralto shows us a new side of Liza. Figuratively, she’s over the same old cycles repeating. With melancholic organs, she lays to rest what’s now just an old chapter.

The song ends abruptly on an unfinished note. Perhaps it alludes to another chapter in the pair’s love story. But for now, done is indeed done.

Nicki Minaj Says Drake and Lil Wayne ‘Washed’ Her on ‘Seeing Green’

Nicki Minaj is showing her humility.

On Friday, the rap queen released her 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty to streaming services for the first time featuring three new tracks including “Seeing Green” with Drake and Lil Wayne.

In a Q&A with fans, Nicki said that her Young Money brothers “washed” her on the track, and she’s not afraid to admit it.

“All I know is that they washed me on #SeeingGreen,” tweeted Nicki. “I’m a woman enough to admit when I’ve been washed on a track by the Greats.”

However, Nicki feels that she has outshined Drizzy and Weezy on their past collaborations. “And it’s ok #Barbz I’ve washed them b4. We’ll live through this one,” she said, adding, “I was still a lil rusty I washed them in my head on #Fractions.”

She also revealed that she recorded around seven different versions of “Seeing Green” before settling on her verse. “Honestly I kept coming back to it for like a week. I have like 7 diff versions of my verse on that song,” she told fans.

During her Instagram Live on Thursday night, Nicki said that it was Drake who helped her overcome her writer’s block after she gave birth. “He single handedly got me out of my writer’s block, and I’m never gonna forget it and I’m gonna shout it to the fu**ing world from the mountain tops,” said Nicki. “He’s a fu**in’ genius as a musical artist but also as a human.”
