Haviah Mighty and Jalen Santoy are dreaming and moving “Way Too Fast”

Toronto hometown hero Haviah Mighty has been on a roll since the release of her debut album, 13th Floor, in 2019–and she hasn’t stopped since. Over the last few months, she’s been satiating fans’ appetites with a host of edgy tracks and visuals. On “Way Too Fast”, Mighty teams up with North Carolina rapper Jalen Santoy to remind dreamers to never limit their potential. An ode to her own journey in music, Mighty reminds us of the power of consistently putting in the work until dreams become a reality.

In the BLACKPOWERBARBIE-designed visualizer for “Way Too Fast”,  Mighty and Santoy blow smoke in the faces of disbelievers, driving circles around their opponents and leaving skid marks to mark her territory in hip hop. They shake the dust off her feet to disregard their enemies as they speed forward. Speaking of the epiphany that occurred after her big Polaris Music Prize win for 13th Floor, she shares some insight with EARMILK over email, “What felt impossible, now felt possible – maybe even probable. I felt this internal surge of self-belief – it was belly deep, at the pit of my core.” It was at this moment she recognized the power of manifesting her visions: “From then on, and to this day, I thoroughly believe I have what it takes to achieve my wildest dreams.”

In spite of all the accolades to Mighty’s name, on “Way Too Fast”, Mighty vows that she is just scratching the surface. In Mighty’s camp, she’s keeping a forward-momentum, showing us the power that comes with living in a dimension where we are assured that anything is possible.
